Frequently Asked Questions

Does CareAcademy's HHA Program come with an end-of-program knowledge exam?

Yes! The exam contains 100 questions, divided across 10 topics, which ensures coverage of all subject areas required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Conditions of Participation for Home Health Agencies:

  • Communication skills
  • Observation, documentation, and reporting
  • Vital signs
  • Infection control procedures and maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment
  • Body functioning
  • Emergency procedures
  • Physical, emotional, and developmental needs
  • Personal hygiene and grooming tasks
  • Mobility, transfers, and range of motion
  • Nutrition

The knowledge exam is delivered to participants online. Participants must receive an 80% in order to pass.

Does the HHA program come with a certificate of completion?
Yes! The program materials contain a certificate of completion (PDF template) that agencies must complete and distribute to their home health aides after they successfully complete the program (that is, after they complete the required training, pass the knowledge exam, and demonstrate competency by passing the hands-on skill evaluation).
What instructor materials are included, and how are they delivered?
Instructor materials, including the Program Guide with an overview of program setup, the Instructor and Facilitator Manuals, and weekly outlines, handouts, and lesson plans, are delivered via email as a downloadable .zip file.
What types of handouts are provided?

There are two types of handouts in the HHA program - activity handouts and skills checklists. Both are intended for use as part of the 16-hour classroom portion.

  • The activity handouts cover both important topics not included in online classes and reinforcement for key skills.
  • The skills checklists are designed as a peer review for when students are practicing the skills. Since they list the steps for mastering skills, they are useful to students before, during, and after the training.
