CareAcademy’s Training Resources Enable Home Care Agencies to Meet OSHA’s Required COVID-19 Healthcare Emergency Temporary Standard

BOSTON, August 25, 2021 – CareAcademy, maker of the leading home care and home health workforce empowerment platform, announced the availability of training resources to enable healthcare employers to meet the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) COVID-19 emergency temporary standard (ETS). The mandate, which went into effect in June 2021, includes a requirement to train direct care workers on safety measures to help control the spread of COVID-19.

CareAcademy not only offers courses that meet OSHA’s requirements, but its mobile-friendly platform makes it easy to assign all required employees to the courses and to demonstrate proof of completion with simple reports. Furthermore, courses are provided in natural language and at common literacy levels.

“We recognized an immediate need at the outset of the pandemic to provide education around COVID-19, and have continued to respond with up-to-date essential information to empower the direct care workforce,” said Helen Adeosun, founder and CEO of CareAcademy. “Ensuring home health workers are equipped with the education to keep themselves, their clients, and their communities safe continues to be a top priority.”

Given the emergence of COVID-19 variants and the high risk of infection for home healthcare providers, CareAcademy continues to put the health and safety of healthcare workers front and center by creating educational tools and providing access to trainings.  To date, caregivers have accessed over one million hours of training on the CareAcademy platform. Launched in March of 2020, CareAcademy’s free COVID-19 course alone has now educated over 45,000 direct care workers specifically on how to protect themselves and their clients from the virus. CareAcademy also released a free class on the COVID-19 vaccine in March 2021 to provide quality education, combat misinformation, and encourage vaccinations among healthcare workers.

The OSHA ETS is currently in effect through Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021. At that time, OSHA will evaluate what will become of this standard and review public comments. For more information about the requirements and their impact on home care agencies and direct care workers, join CareAcademy for a free educational webinar on Thursday, Aug. 26.
