CareAcademy Releases Free Monkeypox Guide for Direct Care Workers

Interactive Resource Educates Caregivers on the Risks, Transmission and Treatment of the Virus to Improve Quality of Care

BOSTON, (Oct. 13, 2022) –  Caring for patients with Monkeypox requires training at scale for caregivers to help limit the spread of the virus. As part of its commitment to provide accessible, accurate healthcare information, care enablement platform CareAcademy today released a free online resource that educates direct care workers on the Monkeypox virus to better care for themselves and their clients during this public health emergency.

Having educated more than 300,000 caregivers to date, CareAcademy is on the frontlines with home health agencies and staff to address pressing healthcare concerns in real time, and the Monkeypox virus is the latest public health crisis in the U.S. – one that particularly affects the LGBTQIA+, Black and brown communities. CareAcademy’s new guide instructs caregivers on the symptoms of monkeypox and how to treat and prevent the spread of the virus.

“Much of the stigma around Monkeypox today is a result of lack of information or misinformation,” said Tracy Huckabee, VP of Content, CareAcademy. “As a care enablement company, it is our mission and duty to provide relevant, engaging and accessible educational resources for everyone across the caregiving continuum, so caregivers can protect and care for both themselves and their clients.”

This learning solution is the latest resource provided by CareAcademy for free during a public health crisis. Most recently, CareAcademy released two free COVID-19 courses to teach direct care workers how to protect themselves and their clients from the virus and to provide vaccine education among healthcare workers, which more than 50,000 direct care workers have completed to date.

The interactive monkeypox guide takes about 20 minutes to complete and is available to the public at https://careacademy.com/free-tools/monkeypox-a-guide-for-direct-care-workers/.
