Home Health Aides (HHA)
Number of hours to meet the requirement for initial onboarding training
Private-Pay Caregiver: No training requirements.
Direct Care Workers (Public-Pay/Medicaid HCBS): Training requirements include documentation of training sessions (content, length, trainers, and signatures). COVID-19 training is required per the Provider Reference Module.
Personal Service Attendants: There is no minimum hour requirement, but competency evaluations and task-specific training must be completed prior to providing services.
Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Staff: Six (6) hours of dementia-specific training must be completed within six months of initial employment or within 30 days for personnel assigned to Alzheimer's and dementia special care units.
Home Health Aides (HHA): Initial training requires 75 hours (59 classroom/16 practical), meeting Federal requirements for agency certification and HHA training.

Direct Care Workers (Public-Pay/Medicaid HCBS): Annual competency evaluations and 8 hours of in-person training are required, per the Provider Reference Module.
Personal Service Attendants: Annual training is required, though hours are not specified. CareAcademy can provide continuing education.
Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Staff: Three (3) hours of dementia-specific training are required annually to meet the needs of cognitively impaired residents.
Home Health Aides (HHA): Annual continuing education totals at least 12 hours, with 8 hours covering specific topic areas.
