Number of hours to meet the requirement for initial onboarding training

  • Private-Pay Caregiver: Private-pay caregivers are not regulated in Montana, so there are no state-specific training requirements. However, CareAcademy can provide training to private-pay caregivers.
  • Personal Care Attendant (Medicaid): The initial training for Personal Care Attendants is 16 hours. This must be completed prior to providing services. CareAcademy meets the topic requirement with 8 hours of training and recommends an additional 8 hours that agencies can customize to suit specific caregiver and client needs.
  • Home Health Aide (HHA): Home Health Aides in Montana are required to have CNA certification, and CareAcademy cannot provide the initial training.

  • Private-Pay Caregiver: Continuing education for private-pay caregivers is not regulated by the state, but CareAcademy can offer this training.
  • Personal Care Attendant (Medicaid): Continuing education for Personal Care Attendants requires 8 hours annually. CareAcademy can offer this training.
  • Home Health Aide (HHA): Home Health Aides are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education annually to meet federal requirements. CareAcademy can offer this training.

Caregivers can get the following training through CareAcademy

  • Private-Pay Caregiver: CareAcademy can provide both initial and continuing education training for private-pay caregivers.
  • Personal Care Attendant (Medicaid): CareAcademy can provide both initial and continuing education training for Personal Care Attendants.
  • Home Health Aide (HHA): CareAcademy cannot provide the initial training (CNA certification is required), but we can provide the annual continuing education training.
