What do you need to know about caregiver training requirements?

Caregiver training requirements are determined by the care setting in which they work.
PCAs: PCAs must complete a topic-specific 40-hour training program approved by the DOH
HHAs: HHAs must complete a 75-hour training program with 16 hours of hands-on skills training through an approved Home Health Aide Training Program approved by the NY Department of Health or the NY State Education Department.
New York now allows already approved agencies to submit for approval to offer live, virtual training with digital enhancements for HHA and PCA training programs.
